02: Wickes Live Brief - thoughts

To begin this brief I reduced the brief down to one sentence from extracting key words. I decided to team up with Elliot with the find other peeps to join us.

Brief

'Create a system which re imagines the customers experience of shopping for colour'

Key words

Reimagine, Customer experience, selecting colour, Journey, Replace current approach, simple, intuitive.

Brain Storming

Using techniques we learnt from The Pop Up Agency we created a range of ideas individually then reviewed each others ideas.

What stuck out to us was a multi sensory experience to help teach customers about colour and how it could be used.

Using digital equipment to help customers narrow down there needs and values in order to reduce confusion. Example being someone looking to decorate a one bedroom apartment will be looking for something much more different to a family of 5.

  • Exhibitions
  • Show Room
  • Artist collabs
  • painting walls
  • how does colour Feel? Smell? Taste? Sound?
  • DIY Classes
  • Furniture + Colour matching
  • Mini layouts like legoland towns
  • VR
  • LCD colour screens

Research

Trapped in Suburbia

Taking Inspiration from trapped in suburbia's moto of 'tell me and ill forget, show me and i may remember, Involved me and ill understand'.

WallPaper Mag

Miller Harris concept store gives customers a full '360 degree expression of each fragrance' scent has been married with sound and texture. This approach seems must more realistic for our times when there is the ability to take advantage of tech and our greater understanding of human experience and its effect on our memory.

Ted Talks

Jinsop Lee on ted talks about desiging for all 5 senses to create a lasting impact on people. This is something wickes could be using in smaller spaces.

Mini Living is looking at how urban spaces can be used best for optimal living within urban areas. This is a great approach and campaign as its looking at a currently dilemma that's impacting most of the world.
