08: Evaluation
This project was an interesting one as it felt like the idea of the campaign was strong however after prototyping and receiving feedback we found there was lots that had been miscommunicated. However due to the quick turn around it felt like a natural part of the process to produce a much stronger piece of work. I and Elliott will be extending this project for our end of year show to enable us to completely re-shoot. Through feedback and copy, we managed to salvage what we made. One of the key problems was having two directions so narrowing it down to one focus (A plastic planet, plastic-free aisles) Allowed for a simpler and more direct video.
Directing how the video was shot with Elliott was my favourite part of the project and something I had not done before. Working to a tight schedule with this project helped push it and I actually enjoyed working fast.
The huge weakness of this campaign was using clear plastic within the prawns this was a big mistake because you couldn't see it at all. So to people, it just looked like a normal cooking video. Next time around I would plan out the video a bit more with stronger aims and storyboards.
Working with Elliot and Hilda on this project was brilliant it was the perfect combo and allowed for me and Elliot to think about the direction of the video whilst Hilda filmed. Its been a great skill to learn.
Overall the final outcome did not come out how I had imagined, I think at its current stage it would not be very effective if distributed on social media. But on the plus this gives me something to work on after university however I learned a lot from this project in terms of time management, lighting, editing, art direction.

This projects aim was to work as a portfolio piece to show clients/employers a personal intrest in the hope it could be used to find similar work however what I found from this project was I actually didnt enjoy producing photo book. This is because I felt by the end that these images would be best living online, in a cleverly designed webpage. The amount of effort and time to produce something like this did not weigh up the content was just not strong enough, it lacked substance in terms of a subject. On the other hand I feel the projec was worthwhile for many of these reason as it taught me what I do not like about publication making. Photo books feel restricted and complex to really express ideas, I now think format is much more important to underpin than previously.
Strengths of this project would be that it shows something personal to me that I enjoy, it was also nice to explore photo books. It sits as a nice portfolio piece because of the personal touch. Its taught me to not go straight to the publication format. The project felt limited at times, as there were restrictions on what I could do with the layout, However, these restrictions are necessary and help to reduce time developing.
The final outcome worked out to be a lot of faff because of the additional leather cover, This causes issues with the size of the publication. The final outcome ended up being smaller than planned to fit this cover however it still did not fit properly, the elastic also functioned badly in the middle. If I was to do this project again I would create a online system which alowed for the images to be curated in a intresting and personal way. Although the tactililty of this project made it worth while in the end.

Strengths of this project were having 4 different perspectives when assessing work, It often allows for kinks to be ironed out faster. I really enjoyed working on a campaign and producing a video as the outcome, I feel it influenced me to keep this up within other projects. Campaigns allow me to think more freely, whereas as branding feels restricted at times.
There was a weakness within the research, I felt there could have been some primary research conducted but this came down to time management and us not having enough of it.
I really enjoyed working with a team for this project, It was great to see how Bethan and Beth work together. I felt I learned a lot from observing both of there approaches to the brief. Having a relatively big team allowed for a really quick turn around.
The final outcome was a real learning curve, it allowed me to dip in and out of a number of elements such as filming, editing and recording sound. Although we had set roles there was still lots to learn. Working in this way is a lot of fun when you have a good team together. If we did this project again I would like to rewrite parts of the script as feedback found parts where not always clear, however, we ran out of time due to the competition deadline.

This project was a super fast turn around, it was a good test at producing work quickly that is still informed. Strengths of the project was that it allowed me to get involved with the 2nd year's exhibition and meeting new people through this. Exploring visually was great practice for creating sound compositions as project visuals tend to be somewhat restricted.
One thing which I would like to improve on is not faffing with the final piece I think it is more beneficial to produce lots of final pieces than spending to long on one. I enjoyed taking a small detail and creating a piece of artwork around this, it was a nice change and allowed me to think in more simpler terms which ultimately is more effective. I think this is something I have had to improve on this year as often I create over complicated ideas.

This project lasted much longer than I had originally planned, which made it not enjoyable by the end, I felt it was not where I wanted it but had to round it off. Producing the publication took much longer than expected. I felt this project would have worked much better in an online format, this is something I need to think more about before starting a project. However, It was beneficial because it helped me understand what I do not enjoy.
I collected a number of interviews with the models, it would have been nice to encourage this content into the publication slightly more. I did enjoy working with photographs, I felt these were the strongest element. Working with a student outside of graphics was also very rewarding.
The final outcome for me was okay, I would have liked to have the interviews throughout. However, because I didn't get all the responses they were taken out. Next time around I would think about format more and the most appropriate way to target my audience. Something I have learnt is not to go straight for the publication as a outcome.
