OUGD404 - Studio Brief 1 & 2 - Aims and thoughts

For studio brief 1 my aims where to learn as much about design principles as possible, Which I could then take forward into studio brief 2. I wanted to stick to modernist principles and rules taken from the Vignelli canon, To try and show I understand these rules and can apply them to my own work. This would then allow me to break some of these rules within studio brief 2.
I wanted to create a booklet which could teach people something which may not be taunt otherwise due to the use of computer software now my chosen topic is becoming unnecessary however

Within studio brief 2 I aimed to create something which would really appeal  to me, Cooking is a favoured hobby of mine which I find interesting so this was a perfect opportunity to take advantage of that. For studio brief to I aimed create a food journal which focuses on the four elements and there involvement within different methods of cooking. I wanted to explore where my interests mostly lie within editorial design this tends to be within independent journals which lead to lots of research around this area and helped to inform a lot of my choices when creating my publication. I aimed to really explore what I could do with editorial design, I wanted to experiment with different stocks, use of colour, use of type faces and use of imagery. In a way which would not challenge rules but sticking to some key principles such as white space and repetition. I aimed to fit in as much as possible to try and learn as much as possible as I was keeping studio breif 1 very simple and to rules I felt this was a good direction to go in.
