Today we learnt about grids and how they can be used to convey different medium. This can depend largely on the newspapers stance and which newspaper article is more important to there readers. The grids are useful for newspapers such as the independent as it helps keep consistency throughout, this keeps information tidy and increases readability it also helps editors to create constant good work efficiently. The grids also help give readers an idea of what is most important within the page this is based largely on the newspapers political stance and who there readership is targeted at. E.g the sun will highlight on terrible events using large images as the visual point of the page with a smaller amount of writing. Where as the independent tends to have a higher moral compass, they will reply on written text to indulge and grasp readers. This then means the grids systems for these two papers will differ the sun maybe having large grids such as 5 x 11 where as the indepedant could have 8 x 11. This says something about the paper and which is more informative.
