08: Evaluation
This project was an interesting one as it felt like the idea of the campaign was strong however after prototyping and receiving feedback we found there was lots that had been miscommunicated. However due to the quick turn around it felt like a natural part of the process to produce a much stronger piece of work. I and Elliott will be extending this project for our end of year show to enable us to completely re-shoot. Through feedback and copy, we managed to salvage what we made. One of the key problems was having two directions so narrowing it down to one focus (A plastic planet, plastic-free aisles) Allowed for a simpler and more direct video.
Directing how the video was shot with Elliott was my favourite part of the project and something I had not done before. Working to a tight schedule with this project helped push it and I actually enjoyed working fast.
The huge weakness of this campaign was using clear plastic within the prawns this was a big mistake because you couldn't see it at all. So to people, it just looked like a normal cooking video. Next time around I would plan out the video a bit more with stronger aims and storyboards.
Working with Elliot and Hilda on this project was brilliant it was the perfect combo and allowed for me and Elliot to think about the direction of the video whilst Hilda filmed. Its been a great skill to learn.
Overall the final outcome did not come out how I had imagined, I think at its current stage it would not be very effective if distributed on social media. But on the plus this gives me something to work on after university however I learned a lot from this project in terms of time management, lighting, editing, art direction.
07: Evaluation
Evaluation
This projects aim was to work as a portfolio piece to show clients/employers a personal intrest in the hope it could be used to find similar work however what I found from this project was I actually didnt enjoy producing photo book. This is because I felt by the end that these images would be best living online, in a cleverly designed webpage. The amount of effort and time to produce something like this did not weigh up the content was just not strong enough, it lacked substance in terms of a subject. On the other hand I feel the projec was worthwhile for many of these reason as it taught me what I do not like about publication making. Photo books feel restricted and complex to really express ideas, I now think format is much more important to underpin than previously.
Strengths of this project would be that it shows something personal to me that I enjoy, it was also nice to explore photo books. It sits as a nice portfolio piece because of the personal touch. Its taught me to not go straight to the publication format. The project felt limited at times, as there were restrictions on what I could do with the layout, However, these restrictions are necessary and help to reduce time developing.
The final outcome worked out to be a lot of faff because of the additional leather cover, This causes issues with the size of the publication. The final outcome ended up being smaller than planned to fit this cover however it still did not fit properly, the elastic also functioned badly in the middle. If I was to do this project again I would create a online system which alowed for the images to be curated in a intresting and personal way. Although the tactililty of this project made it worth while in the end.
06: Hellmans Evaluation
Evaluation
Strengths of this project were having 4 different perspectives when assessing work, It often allows for kinks to be ironed out faster. I really enjoyed working on a campaign and producing a video as the outcome, I feel it influenced me to keep this up within other projects. Campaigns allow me to think more freely, whereas as branding feels restricted at times.
There was a weakness within the research, I felt there could have been some primary research conducted but this came down to time management and us not having enough of it.
I really enjoyed working with a team for this project, It was great to see how Bethan and Beth work together. I felt I learned a lot from observing both of there approaches to the brief. Having a relatively big team allowed for a really quick turn around.
The final outcome was a real learning curve, it allowed me to dip in and out of a number of elements such as filming, editing and recording sound. Although we had set roles there was still lots to learn. Working in this way is a lot of fun when you have a good team together. If we did this project again I would like to rewrite parts of the script as feedback found parts where not always clear, however, we ran out of time due to the competition deadline.
05: Evaluation
Evaluation
This project was a super fast turn around, it was a good test at producing work quickly that is still informed. Strengths of the project was that it allowed me to get involved with the 2nd year's exhibition and meeting new people through this. Exploring visually was great practice for creating sound compositions as project visuals tend to be somewhat restricted.
One thing which I would like to improve on is not faffing with the final piece I think it is more beneficial to produce lots of final pieces than spending to long on one. I enjoyed taking a small detail and creating a piece of artwork around this, it was a nice change and allowed me to think in more simpler terms which ultimately is more effective. I think this is something I have had to improve on this year as often I create over complicated ideas.
04: Evaluation
Evaluation
This project lasted much longer than I had originally planned, which made it not enjoyable by the end, I felt it was not where I wanted it but had to round it off. Producing the publication took much longer than expected. I felt this project would have worked much better in an online format, this is something I need to think more about before starting a project. However, It was beneficial because it helped me understand what I do not enjoy.
I collected a number of interviews with the models, it would have been nice to encourage this content into the publication slightly more. I did enjoy working with photographs, I felt these were the strongest element. Working with a student outside of graphics was also very rewarding.
The final outcome for me was okay, I would have liked to have the interviews throughout. However, because I didn't get all the responses they were taken out. Next time around I would think about format more and the most appropriate way to target my audience. Something I have learnt is not to go straight for the publication as a outcome.
03: Evaluation
Evaluation
This brief was extremely enjoyable and really allowed me to explore something which I am personally interested in. My strengths here was my genuine interest and slight knowledge within the area, I had the advantage of being the audience which allowed me to understand who I was catering to. Because this was my own project I could take risks which a client would most likely not.
There was a lot of weaknesses in the concept as I did not have enough time to iron them out. The product packaging in terms of function does not work however conceptually it functions as it should. This is due to the stock used because the stickers pull off the ink next time around, I would spend less time on designing and more time on production. Alternative stocks could have helped resolves this issue. The way audience read about the beer is also questionable and needs testing as it could be something which audience either love or hate.
I was happy with the brand's outcome as it worked out to be a dynamic brand which could grow through its own personality. The use of painted characters and an accompanying typeface gave the brand an aesthetic which felt timeless but current. The brand was easily extendible over social and the physical which allowed for me to push the final outcomes further than originally intended. One issue within real life application however would be copy right of the images used, this is something to consider next time around.
02: Wickes Evaluation
Evaluation
This brief was great for being a quick turn around, I really enjoyed working at a fast pace and felt it enhanced our creative process. Primary research was our key ingredient and drove our outcome. Working with elephant room on this one was enjoyable.
I felt the project slacked in terms of the outcome, this was slightly down to our lack of knowledge in 3d software. I feel like this would be a much stronger proposal if it has a strong real-world presence.
Working with Elliott and Luke on this project allowed for us to have a very fast turn around. It also allowed me to observe ways both Luke and Elliott approach project which was beneficial for my personal development.
Our final outcome was an application concept which would work within Wickes stores, this idea is practice seemed very suitable however it was very difficult to know if it would work in real time or how it could be set up. Next time around I would like a more solid outcome which could be tested however for our time period I think the work produced was sufficient Feedback from Katie at the elephant room suggested they were pleased.

01: Evaluation
Strengths & What I Liked
Building a concept from research is a rewarding experience, I felt this project in terms of simplicity and effectiveness measured high and this was due to in-depth research which allowed us to reduce our idea until it was hitting our audience and creating an impact.
Weaknesses and what I didn't like
As an issue to solve this was a complex and complicated issue to work on, I really felt the difference between this type of project and your standard branding. I think when working on projects such as this you have to be careful it does not turn into an ego project and that what your doing aims to create some real-world change.
Team Work
Working with elliot on this was key to its success having someone to keep us in check and on the correct route was vital. Without it the project could have very easily lost direction.
Final outcome
The final outcome worked really nicely in the end and we managed to collaborate with an illustrator for that added finish. It was far from what we originally set out to create however it felt most appropriate when considering real-world implementation and creative conscience.

01: Monzo Platform & Audience
Collaboration
Looking at ways we could increase impact through our solution and really target our audience, We decided that a collaboration with new banking technology could be an innovative way to introduce charitable giving because essentially, they already have the framework to track your money. They are also a trusted source with our target audience of millennials and generation Y.

Evaluations
My aim this year was to further understand what makes me tick. I wanted to explore a range of meaningful topics and ways that I could apply this to my work through creative problem-solving. I want to push my self to workaround real-world issues.
Overall Evaluation
The extended practice has been a great opportunity to explore my skill set and challenge myself. I have learned a lot about time management through writing myself weekly calendars and then daily to-do lists. These were very helpful for managing stress levels as I found myself with a good amount of time. I learned that working within set periods of time with breaks increased my productivity. Working in alternative locations also helped me find inspiration and motivation. Working with teams this year was a large part of my work. I enjoyed working this way much more, I felt this was much more I feel this is when the highest quality work is produced. I learned a huge amount from working with people, Marnie on illustration, Anisa on photography and beth, bethan and elliot from the graphic. Each person has their own methods and process observing these skills were invaluable.
I did not like was producing photobooks. These projects were ment to be fast turnarounds but ended up taking much longer than planned. They were the least rewarding projects. My regret was not understanding this sooner. The book as a format is not always the best decision next time around considering online curating could be a better decision.
Overall this module has been a great learning experience I think for me more than anything the people who I have worked with and met on the course have been a huge source of inspiration for me and will be one of the key things I take away from these three years.

10: Sip Coffee - Branding - Client
Today I had a meet up with a client who is opening an artisan coffee shop within Clapham train station.
Here are my notes
Key points
Barcelona Influencers
Sheek but also tongue in cheek
'F you to the chains'
To be punchy
'Scruffy Stylish'
'It needs to quickly say we're selling coffee'
The audience is morning commuters
Brief
Outline
Create a visual identity around a coffee shop which focuses completely on high-quality coffee with no nonsense. It must be timeless and sheek with a f you to the chains. It most shout we make great coffee and we do it fast from the shop front.
Influences
Spanish coffee shops particularly Barcelona
Keep in mind
The main focus is to build a brand, which then can be extended to the shops interior and outside.
Once a brand is built energy can be put into the online presence of the coffee shop.
Business Aims
To compact the rise of coffee chains
To serve high quality fair trade coffee

08: Wasty Brand
Taking inspiration from tasty we build a photo from the pastic within our recycling bin this then can be used as a backdrop for our logo as well as footers etc.
Production
Development
08: Plastic ocean - Idea
Concept
Our solution to this brief is to create a cooking video in the format of popular cooking programs such as tasty. Using this short and snappy format we can hit a larger demographic. The food throughout the video will contain bits of plastic to subtle hint to our audience of the overuse of plastic. We want to use the fact that plastic is making its way into our food as a reason for people to petition for plastic-free aisles. This idea stemmed from talks and feedback with alec on a cooking show idea.Tasty Examples we wish to take inspiration from because this formats use of short snappy shots gains an audience which interacts with it.
08: Plastic Ocean - Plastic in our food
Plastic pollution finds its way into the ocean through a number of ways, Beaches, Drains, Ships. The Plastics although not biodegradable, do degrade into microplastics from Uv rays. These small pieces of plastics are eaten by bottom feeders of the ocean which ultimately makes its way back up the food chain to us. The chemicals from the plastic contaminate the flesh of the fish, Although not deadly to us it is an example of an issue which if not prevent could become unmanageable.
Scientists at Ghent University in Belgium recently calculated that shellfish lovers are eating up to 11,000 plastic fragments in their seafood each year.
'..it was reported that plastic was found in a third of UK-caught fish, including cod, haddock, mackerel and shellfish.'
'..plastic-eating fish are now showing up in supermarkets.'
'new research showed that common plastics attract a thin layer of marine algae, making them smell like nutritious food.'
'some studies have warned that microplastics, particularly at the nanoscale, could transfer from the guts to the meat'
'An estimated 10-12% of the global population relies on fisheries and aquaculture for their livelihood'
'Perhaps the shock of finding plastics returning to us on our dinner plates will help to bring that message home. “We’re on the edge of a major ecological disaster,"
