I started my research within cook books from popular chefs such as Jamie Oliver, What I found is they tell a story as well as give recipes, Going back to his own child hood or tell stories from friends & family. This for me made the book much more interesting, it was also informative compared to covent gardens soups which was not very interesting at all, it was literally 365 recipes with no images. I will be keeping this in mind when deciding on content for my own publication.

OUGD406 - studio BReif 2 - Research - Turner
After looking into the new english £20 I decided to look into jmc turner more and understand why he had be chosen for the note I though this would give me a good idea of how to chose what will go on my own bank note. What I learnt was turn was a brilliant english landscape painter. They have used his portrate along with his most famous painting, a quote and his signature. All these aspects link in together nicely informing one another this is something I would like to achieve. Looking into this has really influenced me to try and use older artists within my research more often as the colours used within his paintings are brilliant.
Joseph Mallord William Turner, or JMW Turner (1775 - 1851), is known as "the painter of light" and described by artist Tracey Emin as a "wild maverick".
Joseph Mallord William Turner, or JMW Turner (1775 - 1851), is known as "the painter of light" and described by artist Tracey Emin as a "wild maverick".
Mr Carney, the Bank's governor, said: "Turner is perhaps the single most influential British artist of all time. His work was transformative, bridging the classical and modern worlds. His influence spanned his lifetime and is still apparent today.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who got involved in the process and that sent us their suggestions for visual artists to celebrate. The range and breadth of these nominations is testament to the UK's achievements in the arts and the public's passion for it."
The banknote features Turner's self-portrait, from 1799, currently on display in the Tate Britain, and one of his most eminent paintings - The Fighting Temeraire - which can be seen in the National Gallery. In 2005, the painting - a tribute to the ship HMS Temeraire in Nelson's victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 - was voted Britain's greatest painting in a poll organised by the BBC.
The quote on the banknote - "Light is therefore colour" - comes from an 1818 lecture by Turner at the Royal Academy, where he first exhibited at the age of 15. His signature is from his will in which he bequeathed his work to the nation.
The unveiling was held at the Turner Contemporary in Margate, Kent. It was in the town that the London-born Turner, the son of a barber and wig maker, loved and more than 100 of his works were inspired by the East Kent coast.
OUGD406 - Studio Brief 2 - Research - The pound and polymer notes
This year England is being introduced to the polymer bank note a new type of material used within bank notes to enhance security features as well as produce a note which is more sustainable. And is suposed be better for the environment from cradle to death than our current bank notes. Material is something I will take into account when creating my note. The 5 and 10 pounds have a really nice hologram in the centre which can be seem through. Cotton notes have been around for more than 100 years so this in a huge leap into whats to come.
Next we will have a new £20 note enter circulation in 2020 This shows a change within currency as we are not the first to move to polymer. On the £20 its self JMW turner has be chosen to be on the £20 note, As seen below the note uses primarily purple colours and has lots of subtle detailing in the background to make duplication more difficult. This is something else I will need to take into consideration when creating my note, as these security features are an important part of bank notes.

OUGD406 - Studio Brief 1 - Dream 3 - Hue experimentation
For my dream cover I wanted to play with photography. I chose to manipulate Fig 3 using colour balance and hue I created a range of quick samples. After them all I feel the original and one using a red filter were the strongest.
Here I played with a huge amount of effects to try create a dream like state I tended to stick to darker shades of colours. I achieved these through playing with the hue.
