Research - Studio Brief 1 - Publication Folding

Considering how my publication for this was particularly difficult because of the certain rules when crafting a book. I am doing the book on van de Graf cannon and I want the grids untouched on each page this meant finding another way to show written content. My first idea was to have inserts of paper throughout which had information about the grid then a quote on the back (fig1) however the problem with this was when it gets to the middle there was no way to have the insert the same way as previously. Away around this was to have a slightly longer pieces of paper instead which was cut and folded inwards. This then worked as a flap that folds out revealing information (fig 2). This idea lead me to using the flap throughout at different sides and places of the paper throughout, this turned out to be a challenge to get correct because of the size. (Fig 3). After a long time playing with this idea I came back to my originally idea after my feedback from Danny. Who surggested using tracing paper as the smalles pages in between, this gave me a really nice idea for the centre instead of having a fold I would have a full page spread of tracing paper that would show an example of how the grids work. By using this method it also meant I was using a great range of stocks and methods than the previous booklet. But not to many that it becomes unharmonious. (Fig 4)
