OUGD406 - Studio Brief 2 - Research - The pound and polymer notes

This year England is being introduced to the polymer bank note a new type of material used within bank notes to enhance security features as well as produce a note which is more sustainable. And is suposed be better for the environment from cradle to death than our current bank notes. Material is something I will take into account when creating my note. The 5 and 10 pounds have a really nice hologram in the centre which can be seem through. Cotton notes have been around for more than 100 years so this in a huge leap into whats to come.

Next we will have a new £20 note enter circulation in 2020 This shows a change within currency as we are not the first to move to polymer. On the £20 its self JMW turner has be chosen to be on the £20 note, As seen below the note uses primarily purple colours and has lots of subtle detailing in the background to make duplication more difficult. This is something else I will need to take into consideration when creating my note, as these security features are an important part of bank notes.

Inspiration for the back of this note has come from turners paintings, I will focuses on inspirations from which ever direction I decide to go in.
