For my publications front cover I didn't want to the cover to be over crowded so I decided to leave the back cover white however I did not want it to go from an image to nothing, I wanted it to flow as if the white space on the back is intentional, To do this I added white space to the side of my image, This also worked in conjunction with my binding as it meant i could have white tread on the side and it not be noticeably visible. It the cover was a full image the tread would most likely show up. In addition to this it lets the cover work both ways portrait and landscape meaning it would be more likely to grab someones attention.
Stock used with my publication Is a mixture of matt and gloss, I wanted a section of photographs to be on glossy paper as I think it really allowed the images to pop. Other stocks I considered to use within my publication was galleria paper by w&n.
Other stocks I considered was the from the g f smith colour plan. These were going to be in place where I had colour block behind text however I decided against it as I had no way of using the colour on just that section it would of take up a whole double page spread something I didn't want.
In my first publication I bound the book with white thread. Then over this white thread I Have decided to add a texture layer of stock as seen below. Out of the two stocks I went with W&N - Galeria paper the other being g f smith takeo yomishi.
As well as this I also used tracing paper throughout my small publication, so the guides could be seen through
