OUGD406 - Studio Brief 4 - Research

For my research for Studio Brief four I looked into typography posters and screen prints, There was a nice amount out there for me to find. Something I really like about the typography only posters is the impact of them they really stand out, with no fuss. Its the simplest way to convey a legibility bold statement. one Artist who really stood out to me was anothony burial ‘It’s important to ask questions and here is a reminder. We should continually ask ourselves questions about how we live our lives.’
– Anthony Burrill. He is known for his persuasive, up-beat style of communication. He tends to use block caps in black on a coloured stock. I however would experiment with diffrent colour inks.

This piece would be interesting as a little boost for students to put there work out there. Something I fear and am still to do so I know something like this could help convince students early on.

Next I looked at some motivational posters although I am not aiming to create a motivational poster more a informative poster I still think this will be a helpful source of influence.

Looking a posters from Dima Shiryaevs who creates for club nights, parties, exhibitions and general experiments, the designer’s style is diverse, which lends itself well to the singular, one-hit nature of posters. Much of Dima’s work is type-focused interspersed with geometric shapes and contrasting colours. The designer plays with word and letter placement throughout to alter the pace and mood, allowing his posters to suit the event they’re advertising. In one poster manic, tightly-kerned type is used for a bass-heavy launch party, meanwhile letters are clustered together to mimic a series of art events involving neighbouring countries in another.
